Stan Nicholson was signed in 1958 from Featherstone Juniors, and he made his senior debut against Dewsbury on 4 April 1959 at loose forward.  He was versatile in any pack position and his career with Rovers lasted until 1970, making 127 first team appearances as well as many more in the 'A' team - a true club stalwart.  He was in the 1967 Cup Final squad as a reserve and was also part of the 1961/62 Yorkshire Senior Competition championship winning squad.
