Stan Watts was signed from castleford junior rugby in August 1949.  He was just establishing himself as a regular in the side when he suffered a serious injury in the game against Wakefield at Belle Vue on 26 November involving the Wakefield player Foreman.  His injury was such that he was out for the season and he never played again for the Rovers.
