As a teenager, prop Steve Crossley signed for his hometown team Bradford Bulls, then a high-flying Super League outfit. With his first team opportunities limited, he went to Dewsbury where he had two good seasons and was spotted by Daryl Powell who brought him to Featherstone. A good-sized front-rower, Crossley developed the art of turning in the tackle and off-loading. After two high quality seasons, Powell took Crossley to Castleford, but things didn’t work out there. A loan at Bradford was followed by a year at Toronto before heading back to the Bulls as club captain.
