Stuart Norris gained representative honours at under 18 level for both Yorkshire and Great Britain. He signed for Rovers in 1974 when they were one of the top sides in the country but found it difficult to break into the first team and consequently played mostly in the A team.  He filled in a couple of times for the injured Keith Bridges in the 1975/76 season, and made a solitary first team appearance the following year when Rovers claimed the First Division title for the first and only time in their history.  He left during that season and joined local Jubilee ARLFC and was part of their squad when they won the BARLA National Cup in 1985.  A Jubilee team-mate fondly described Norris’s onfield presence as "bamboozling everyone with his unique brand of play".
