Terry Langton hailed from Leeds and played scrum half for the Stanningley amateur club before signing for Wakefield Trinity.  With first team chances limited at Belle Vue he signed for Halifax where he made 184 first team appearances in the period from 1978 to 1984, seeing them to a Yorkshire Cup final and promotion to the first division.  In 1984 he joined the newly formed Mansfield Marksman club.

In February 1986 he signed for Featherstone predominantly to bring on players in the A team and act as cover for Deryck Fox.  The following season he was made player coach of the A team.  He did make a handful of first team appearances during the two seasons he was at the club.  He was described as a good pro with the right attitude.
