Tom Norbury was the son of 1920's star Fred, and his first team opportunity arrived during the hectic Christmas period 1947. He debuted against Halifax was praised for his outstanding defensive work. He kept his spot for three further games, kicking four goals in the process. The following year he also played a further four games as cover for Tommy Townsend.
