Tony Lynch was a rare signing for Rovers from rugby union.  He joined the club from Castleford R.U. in the summer of 1960 and played his part in the 'A' team winning the Yorkshire Senior Competition Championship in 1961/62.  A stylish centre, he established himself in the first team particularly between 1962 and 1964, but then had to face competition from Keith Cotton and Ken Greatorex.  His last appearance was at York in January 1967 when came on as a substitute for Mick Smith.
