In February 1936, Rovers signed the 22 year old Sharlston Rovers full-back Uriah Crummack. A well-built player with a good kicking game he went immediately into a struggling Rovers team.  His first game saw an improved performance from Rovers when they got there first ever league point playing away at Leigh.  Crummack was picked out in press reports for an impressive debut but, unfortunately, he was injured during the game.  When he returned to the side a few weeks later this also coincided with another improved performance in a 6-6 draw with Leeds where again he was picked out as one of the best players on the field. He also played in the home victory over Dewsbury, which ended a run of 19 games without a win. After playing just six games at the end of the 1935/36 season, surprisingly given his performances, that was the end of his Rovers career.
