After a short trial Vic Kinsey signed for his home town club in November 1957 at the age of 22, where he joined his cousin Brian.  Whilst playing with Featherstone schoolboys he so injured his back that it was thought he would never play again.  However, in the services he was posted to Germany, and there took up American football which proved he was strong enough to play rugby again.  He made only a handful of appearances in the first team during the 1958/59 season.
