A Papua New Guinea international, capped by his country twelve times, Wellington Albert had two separate spells in the Featherstone front-row. He first arrived in England to play for Widnes in 2018. After establishing himself as a strong-running, ball-handling forward, he was signed by Leeds Rhinos, but spent the latter part of 2019 and the curtailed 2020 season in his first period on loan at Rovers, where he impressed with his size, mobility and off-loading skills. He moved to Keighley in 2021, then London Broncos. After being part of the team that beat Rovers in the 2023 playoffs, Albert came back to Featherstone for the 2024 season. After a late start, and time spent getting up to full fitness, he was troubled by injury niggles and it wasn’t until the second half of the season that his established himself as a useful interchange player, with his trademark offloads and strong carries being used to good effect. He left Featherstone at the end of the 2024.
