During World War Two, Featherstone Rovers had a number of guest players from other clubs who played occasional games for the club during the relaxed rules on registration for the War Leagues. Most such guests would typically play a game or two. Hull KR centre Wilf Whitworth was unusual that he actually played 46 games for Featherstone over two years, often captaining the team, as his club had packed in playing for the rest of the war. Once the war was over he went back to resume at Hull KR, having played continuously for Featherstone without ever officially signing for the club.
