At 32 years old Wynne Jones was given a free transfer in 1960 and crossed off the player register in recognition of his service to the club.  He joined Rovers in January 1957, after being transferred from Bradford Northern, and made his debut later that month against Hunslet.  He was a major contributor in the pack during the late 1950's when Rovers were challenging for top honours. His best season with the club was 1957/58 when he made 38 appearances and showed to the full his capabilities as a strong foraging forward whose cover work was excellent.
