Zak Hardaker burst onto the scene as a talented teenager at Featherstone Rovers. After a handful of games as reserve team full-back, he was straight into the first team. His debut could hardly have been more impressive, a hatrick against Hunslet from full-back, deputising for Ian Hardman. He finished that season in tremendous try scoring form, with 22 tries in just 14 games, including two in the Grand final against Halifax.  His pace and power marked him out as an international class player who wouldn't be playing at championship level for long.

The inevitable big money transfer came swiftly after, Leeds moving in to sign him.  Despite a few games on dual registration back at Rovers in 2011 it was not long before he was a first team regular at Leeds and scored a try when Leeds won the Super League Grand final at the end of 2011.  After three Challenge Cup finals and three Grand finals, he was affected by off-field indiscretions that cost him his contract at Leeds.  After a brief spell with Penrith in the NRL, he led Castleford to the Super League Grand final in 2017 but missed the final under another cloud of controversy as he later picked up a two year ban for recreational drug use. He then signed for Wigan.  An England and Great Britain international, at full-back and centre, further off-field problems cost him a place at the 2013 World Cup.
