Convincing victory over reigning champions Hull KR in September 1925

Featherstone came desperately close to their first major final.  Good early season form saw Rovers facing Huddersfield in the semi-final of the Yorkshire Cup at Fartown.  The Featherstone pack was dominating the game, though not the scrums in the absence of renown scrummager Billy Clements. The team were leading by 4 points in the second half when Albert Cartwright looked to have scored a good try to extend the lead, unfortunately the referee thought otherwise.  Shortly afterwards Huddersfield scored a try from a speculative up field kick and went on to win. League form suffered a bit after this but picked up by the end of the season and Rovers finished towards the middle of the league.  There was disappointment at a first round home defeat by Broughton Rangers in the Challenge Cup.

The team had more a settled feel with the back division containing the Denton Brothers, Hirst, Askin and Cartwright, with Annable and Williams in the half backs.  Up front Barraclough, Clements, Wooley and Ashton were the mainstays of the pack.  The club obtained a loan of £1500 from the RFL to help construct a new covered stand which it hoped would help boost attendances.
