These were tough times in the mining industry but the steady improvement of Featherstone Rovers provided some pleasure to the town.  The new stand was completed and ready for the first game of the season against Batley but 2,000 supporters who could not afford the shilling entry were eventually let in for free to see Rovers victorious.  Not surprisingly attendances were down significantly and finances took a hit with the overdraft trebling by the end of the season.

There was a prevalence of injuries in the back division but the solidity provided by the pack (Barraclough, Hepworth, Wooley, Clements et al) meant results were not significantly affected.  Loose forward Joe Morgan did a fine job covering various back positions.  Jack Ashton had a good year and was elected captain in January when Jim Denton relinquished the responsibility which saw him return to top form in the latter half of the season to top the try scoring again.   Rovers finished in their highest league position since joining the senior ranks and scored a club record 504 points.  However, there was no joy either of the cup competitions with defeats in the early rounds at Batley and Hull.
