Beating Sheffield Eagles 40-24 on 28 August to win a fourth consecutive league leaders shield.

“The season was a roller coaster in every sense.  Great wins and shocking losses, four different coaches with three different styles of play and yet the players still managed to be the most consistent team in the league, culminating in a fourth consecutive league leaders shield.”  This was how new captain Liam Finn eloquently summed up the season.  His own personal contribution was again immense.  He played in every game this season which meant he had made 116 consecutive first team appearances.  Half back partner Andy Kain was again a key figure and topped the try scoring.  Ever presents James Lockwood and Steve Crossley, along with Andy Bostock did the hard yards in the pack and new signings Will Sharp and Andy Ellis added some spark.

After sensationally defeating Sheffield Eagles, and denying them a bonus point, to guarantee the league leaders shield, a fourth consecutive grand final appearance looked odds on.  Particularly when Rovers led 16 – 0 in the semi-final against Batley Bulldogs. But Batley came storming back in the second half to make it 20 – 20 at full time.  Rovers abysmal record under golden point continued as it was Batley who eventually got the successful drop goal.  Off the field the stadium was being radically transformed by a group of volunteers who were erecting new stands reclaimed from defunct Scarborough FC.
