The official opening of two new stands at Post Office Road erected by the “Stand Gang” group of volunteers

Only 4 wins out of 11 home games in the league meant this was a desperately disappointing season on the field considering the investment that had been made in the playing squad.  This disappointment was compounded by the fact that a pathway to automatic promotion had opened up via the new 8’s structure for championship clubs that finished in the top four.     Experienced players Paul Wood, Gareth Carvell and Paul Sykes, coupled with overseas players Jy Hitchcox, Rene Matua, Ryan Verlinden and Reni Marginet were among 15 new players brought in at the start of the season.  But early season home thrashings by Bradford and Leigh set the tone for a side that never really looked capable of challenging at the top of the table and wasn’t consistent enough to make the top four.  There was some small consolation in winning the championship shield competition and in the performances of some of the younger members of the squad.  Jordan Baldwinson had a great year and won the championship young player of the year but others such as Luke Cooper, Jack Ormondroyd, Brad Knowles-Tagg and Thomas Minns also showed lots of promise.

There was a major upgrade to Post Office Road with completion of the two new covered stands after four years of hard work by a group of volunteers led by ex-player Paul Coventry.  Stands had been acquired from the defunct Scarborough FC, the seats from Leeds United and floodlight pylons from Hull KR.
