Featherstone were effective from the off as Steve Crossley twisted over, giving them a six point lead with less than three minutes played. A crossfield kick from Andy Kain was challenged for by Will Sharp, and James Mendeika then pounced on the loose ball to extend the home side's lead. Crossley was able to reach over to score his second of the afternoon. It was becoming a procession when Moore set up an unstoppable Jamie Cording to charge over just to the left of the posts. Kain then finished an exceptional first half display with an interception try from his own half.

Featherstone didn't ease off in the second half, scoring in the second minute when the ball was shifted right for Mendeika to dive over. Minutes later Flanagan was held up, but they would not be denied for long. Play moved right and an errored pass from Andy Kain bounced kindly for Greg Worthington to stroll over. Stuart Reardon was unable to deal with another Kain kick and Cording claimed it before racing beneath the posts. George Flanagan broke downfield and showed composure which had been absent in previous games, drawing his man before sending Matty Dale in for the try. Moore added the extras, bringing up the half century.

Not content with fifty, Kain continued to rain fire on the Welshmen. Hirst was denied by some resolute defence, but they were then carved open by some fluent rugby when the ball was spread right for Mendeika to send Sharp over in the corner. Rovers ended with a final flurry as Moore wriggled through and gave a pass to ground, which Flanagan gathered, taking the score to sixty. Then fittingly it ended with another great display of creativity down the right flank started again by Kain. Mendeika carried on the move, and after releasing Sharp down the wing, he carried on in support to take the return pass to complete his deserved hat-trick.
