This was a turbulent season both on and off the field.  Before the season started fans were surprised when the club released Liam Finn who was immediately signed by super league Castleford.  There was a large number of players brought in by new coach John Bastian and as the season progressed Rovers started dual registration arrangements with Wakefield. The upshot was initially a side that didn’t really gel.  Results were mixed and with apparent unrest in the dressing room John Bastian left in May and was replaced by Andy Hay.   Results continued to be mixed.  A low point was losing to Rochdale in July who at the time had lost their previous 8 games. But Rovers won 6 of their last 8 games to finish second which importantly guaranteed significant extra central funding in 2015.  Good form continued in the play-offs and victories over Halifax and Sheffield saw Rovers into the Grand Final as underdogs to face Leigh Centurions who had won the league by 15 points and already beaten Rovers 3 times.  In a competitive game Rovers lost 36-12.

During the season new investor and Board Director Feisal Nahaboo made a series of bold promises regarding future finances and potential signings which seemed to fans to lack substance.  Eventually Feisal withdrew his involvement and the club was again in the secure hands of Mark Campbell.
