Rovers turned in a dominant display to celebrate the return of fans for the first time after Covid restrictions with a try avalanche against Oldham. From their first touch of the ball, in which Dane Chisholm retrieved a kick on his own line and broke through to go 100 metres, they continued to clock up the scoreboard with 12 tries and 10 conversions from Chisholm, who in his second game at full back solved the goal kicking problems experienced in recent weeks. Regular full back Craig Hall was retained on the wing where he also had an outstanding game, along with Jack Bussey, Dean Parata and Craig Kopczak. After Chisholm opened the scoring the Roughyeads suffered a blow with the loss of Max Roberts to the sin bin for dissent, and by the time he returned the game was already beyond them at 24-0. Hall and Bussey, with two were the scorers and Hall completed his brace soon after before Brad Day and Thomas Minns took Fev into a 40-0 interval lead. Further tries in the second period from Josh Hardcastle, Tom Holmes, Fai’manu Brown, Connor Jones, and finally Gareth Gale ensured a huge points total for the unbeaten Rovers. Oldham had their misfortunes even before kick off with Ben Heaton pulling out at the last minute, Joe Hartley replacing him from the bench and Tommy Brierley coming into the 17.
