TRINITY TOO GOOD

Featherstone Outplayed at Bell Vue.

In the match at Belle Vue, witnessed by about 5,000 people, Wakefield Trinity were without the services of their captain, Jonathan Parkin, who was playing with his county, and Featherstone were minus the services of Hirst their clever centre three-quarter, who had had to decline county honours owing to illness.

It was thought that without Parkin Wakefield would have to fight hard for success, but Moore from the reserve team, proved a very able substitute, and the Trinity backs were superior to their opponents in general play.

The Featherstone forwards played a fine scrummaging game, and often got possession, but they did not receive adequate support from their backs, whose passing, with two or three exceptions, was far too slow to be effective. The best back on their side was undoubtedly S. Denton, the custodian. The pick of the Wakefield three-quarters was Siswick, whose strong runs often baffled his opponents, and on the defence he was very sound, his tackling being very effective.
