FEATHERSTONE’S HARD FIGHT

Featherstone Rovers have had to wait until their fourth meeting with Bramley to be able to claim their first success against the Barley Mow men, the latter having won two the previous engagements, a the third being drawn.  Each side suffered from absentees the most prominent being Hirst and Tait of Featherstone and Cripps, Cooper and Edmondson from Bramley.

Bramley are to be complemented on their good reserves and the Rovers had nothing to throw away.  True at one period of the second half they held a nine point lead but Bramley never gave up and when Myers scored Bramley’s second try for Holland to convert there was still hope.  Featherstone, however, finished strongly, and on the second half’s play well merited their four points victory.

After seeing the intelligence of the Bramley backs in the first half and the great work of their pack, who were almost good as Featherstone's famous six, one found Bramley's lowly position in the league table hard to understand. With more experience the reserves should do well. So much for Bramley.
