KEIGHLEY DECISIVELY BEATEN BY FEATHERSTONE ROVERS
Before about 4,000 spectators, at Lawkholme Lane, Keighley were decisively beaten by Featherstone Rovers. The game had not been in progress more than a quarter an hour when Perkins opened the scoring for Keighley with an excellent try after cleverly eluding Denton, the Featherstone full back. A spell of attacking by Featherstone followed, without result, and then Spavin increased Keighley's lead with penalty goal. The game was being well contested, and there was some interesting play from both sides. For off side Keighley were penalised, and Wynard from a difficult position landed a goal. Half-time arrived with the score: Keighley 5 points, Featherstone 2 points.
In the second half the Featherstone forwards gradually wore their opponents down. Following good work by the Featherstone half backs, Hirst was placed in possession, and got over with a fine try. Wynard converting. A little later Wynard kicked a penalty goal, and just before the close Williams added a second try for Featherstone. Wynard kicking the goal.
