ROVERS EIGHTH VICTORY

Playing at home before less than 2,000 spectators Featherstone Rovers secured their eighth league victory at the expense of St. Helens. In the first fifteen minutes the visitors were often the attack, but from the time Jack Hirst led off with an excellent try, which Wynard converted, the issue was never in doubt. The Featherstone forwards were wonderfully quick when the scrummages broke up, and Barraclough had the satisfaction of putting the finishing touch to a really brilliant movement, begun by Sidney Denton in his own "25 " and finely carried on by Hirst and Williams. The kick at goal failed. St. Helens only score in this half was a penalty goal kicked by George Lewis.

In the second half Featherstone forwards and backs alike were on the top of their form. The St. Helens line was crossed four times, and there were several "near things" in addition. The scorers were Clements. Hepworth, Barraclough and Anderson.  Wynard improving Hepworth's try, who also kicked a penalty goal.  Towards the close, after a short spell of attacking. Stanley Lewis scored smartly for St. Helens, his brother failing at goal.  For the first time in his career James Denton was sent off.
