FEATHERSTONE ROVERS JUST WIN
Before a crowd of 3,000, Featherstone entertained Wigan Highfield. The players were hampered by the treacherous conditions of the ground. The Rovers were without Jack Hirst their centre three-quarter. From a fine bout of passing Mason scored a fine try for Featherstone. Wynard kicking a goal.
Spencer and Pitman raced away from a scrum and the last-named got over. Thomas failed with the goal kick. Wigan were having as much of the game as Featherstone but Kirkham and Williams were the thorn in the visitors’ side. J. Denton stored a good individual try from which Wynard failed at goal. In a race for the line by Mason, Denton and Spencer the referee awarded Wigan a try for obstruction but Thomas again failed with the kick. Wigan played a really robust game.
