SWINTON FAIL AT FEATHERSTONE

Just over 2.000 spectators saw Featherstone give one of the best exhibitions of their career. With the game six minutes old. Hirst made an opening, and Kirkham scored an excellent try. There was not much to chose between the forwards in this half, but Williams and Kirkham were always the smarter half backs, and Williams before the interval made most of the running for a try which Tait scored. The latter signalised his return to the side by giving quite his best exhibition.

Crossing over with six-points lead, Featherstone quickly had their margin reduced. Pearson kicking a penalty goal. From this stage Featherstone were complete masters. A brilliant movement, in which all the third line took part, ended with Tait scoring his second try.  Hirst put the Rovers still further ahead, and Kirkham completed a grand afternoon's work scoring twice. Not one of the six tries was converted.
