Post Office Road - The Millennium Stadium
What started off in 1902 as little more than two farm fields joined together on some land beyond Featherstone Moor Farm off Post Office Road is now the Millennium Stadium with modern covered seating on three sides and a range of facilities expected in the 21st century. This section explores the story of the stadium development and other events that have affected the ground over the decades.
One common theme is how much of what you can see today has been done by “volunteers” whilst not diminishing the generosity of various benefactors and sponsors like Abe Bullock, Richard Budge, Mark Campbell and others. At times official Rugby League grants and loans have been used, and support at certain periods of history has come from Featherstone Town Council and Wakefield Council but much of the drive has come from fans.
What our ground has always had, and kept through more recent renovations, is endless charm, a glorious history and a real sense of tradition. Away fans always remark this is a "proper Rugby League stadium", not a flat pack IKEA kit of a ground, nor a dilapidated relic from Victorian times. A home built and maintained with love and care thanks to its sponsors, committees and fans over the last 120 years.
